Driftide: Sleep Sounds is the updated version of Sleep Sounds. This policy explains the current app's local storage, optional diagnostics, rewarded advertising and feedback email. You do not need an account to listen. The original 24 landscapes and all 86 sounds remain free and work offline. Additional landscapes require an online rewarded ad to unlock, then work offline during the stated access period.
1. Information on your device
Your scene, sound mix, preferences, language, saved mixes, reward receipts, landscape expiry times, unlocked mix-slot count and usage journal are stored on your device. The app does not upload the local journal or provide account-based cloud synchronization. It does not request access to your contacts, microphone or precise location.
2. Usage analytics and crash reports
The production app uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to understand feature use and diagnose failures. Both are enabled by default in the production release. You can disable them independently in Settings under Privacy & diagnostics. Development builds have collection disabled by default.
- Usage events include scene changes, playback actions and session endings, with scene identifiers, the number of sound layers and timer settings. Firebase also processes standard app, device and installation information and usage events.
- Crash reporting processes crash traces, diagnostic information, app and device information, and installation identifiers. Web interface error reports sent by the app are limited to the error type, script filename and line number.
- The app does not set a user ID, send sound-search text or upload your local usage journal. Firebase advertising ID collection remains disabled. Rewarded advertising has separate data practices described below.
Enabled diagnostics are sent to Google services when a connection is available. Turning collection off stops future collection through these features and requests deletion of unsent crash reports; it does not automatically delete information already received by Google. Offline listening continues to work.
3. Optional rewarded advertising
In app versions with rewards, you may choose to watch an advertisement to unlock an additional landscape for the displayed period or add a permanent mix slot on this device. The original free landscapes, sounds, first mix slot and playback controls do not require watching an ad. Audio and the sleep timer pause during a rewarded ad. Rewards are granted only when the advertising SDK confirms completion; closing an ad early may not grant a reward.
Advertising is provided through Ads Mediation by Cashcraft, using Google AdMob as the active provider. When online, the SDK may initialize and preload advertisements after the applicable consent checks, even before you choose to watch one. Google may process your IP address (including approximate location derived from it), app and device information, app interactions, advertisement views and interactions, diagnostic information and device or other identifiers available under platform rules and your privacy choices. Advertising data is used to deliver and measure ads, report performance and prevent fraud. This is separate from the optional Firebase analytics and crash switches.
App versions with rewarded advertising allow the advertising SDK to declare Android advertising ID and AdServices permissions. The SDK may access the Android advertising ID and supported advertising services where available, subject to platform restrictions and your privacy choices. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings. Google's User Messaging Platform is used to request advertising privacy choices where required. When applicable, Settings provides an Ad privacy choices entry so you can review those choices. Google explains its advertising data practices at Google Play data disclosure and Advertising technologies.
When Firebase usage analytics is enabled, the app also records advertisement load, display, failure, reward and revenue events, with placement and session identifiers. We do not upload the contents of saved mixes or the local usage journal. Landscape unlocks and mix slots are stored locally, are not transferable and are removed when app storage is cleared or the app is uninstalled. An expiry does not stop audio that is already playing.
4. Service providers and retention
Google processes diagnostics under its applicable service terms and privacy policies. Processing may take place outside your country. Firebase describes its data handling and service-specific retention at firebase.google.com/support/privacy; Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy. Crashlytics describes a 90-day retention period for crash traces and associated identifiers before removal begins. Analytics retention depends on the project's settings and Google's service policies.
5. Feedback and contact
The feedback button opens your chosen email app addressed to lomoliger@gmail.com. It does not send a message automatically. If you send feedback, we receive your email address and whatever content you choose to include, and use it to respond and investigate your request. Your email provider also processes the message under its own policy.
6. Your choices
You can switch Firebase diagnostics off in Settings and use Ad privacy choices when it is available. Advertising SDK data collection is governed separately by those advertising privacy choices. You can use the original landscapes and sounds offline without viewing an ad. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes the app's local preferences and journal. For questions about personal information, access or deletion requests, contact lomoliger@gmail.com. We will explain what information we can identify and address your request as applicable; disabling diagnostics alone does not erase earlier server-side records.
7. Children and policy changes
The app does not ask for a user's age or create user accounts. If you believe a child has provided personal information through feedback, contact us so we can address it. Changes to the app's data practices will be reflected in this policy with an updated date.
